NORTH BAY — A fire broke at Satira Lookout Apartments on Faux Dr. this morning around 8 am. North Bay Fire Department was quick to arrive and started evacuating the occupants.
But not everyone was buying into the hype.
“Hey, Fire Department! In case you haven’t noticed, my floor is doing great!” yelled 4th floor resident Dylan Wallace. “Stay out of things and I will be just fine!”
Fire Chief Wanda Purdy urged anyone in the flaming building to leave.
Wallace wasn’t having any of it.
“What a disgusting display of overreach and fear-mongering!” shouted Wallace through the thick smoke. “I didn’t elect you! You’re not my Chief of Fire!”
In Ontario, Nearly 800 people are injured in fires or fire-related events per year, with nearly 80 deaths. A fire, even in an apartment building, can quickly spread explained Chief Purdy.
“Those numbers are clearly inflated!” screamed a now smoldering Wallace. “Those people probably suffocated from the lack of oxygen, and I don’t see how that is related to anything!’”
The North Bay Fire Department is still working on the situation and will not leave until they can confirm that everyone, including Wallace, is safe.
