NORTH BAY – The Sands Motel has been the butt of many jokes over the years.  In an effort to curb “crass and inappropriate” jokes, North Bay has finally made the decision to demolish the Sands Motel.

But upon their arrival, the construction crew discovered that the building was no longer there.  The only thing that remained was a mysterious old lady in a rickety rocking chair.

“Like sand in the wind”

“We asked her where the building went…. She just looked at me and said ‘The Sands Motel has been gone for years,’” recounts site manager Jack Maxwell, mimicking an old lady voice.

“And then she blew away… like sand in the wind.”

In an attempt to verify the story, The North Bay Bay looked at old photographs of the Sands Motel, only to find piles of sand where the photographs should be.

“I don’t know what this means…” says Maxwell. “Is North Bay cursed? Is the curse broken? “

“Either way, we don’t have to pay for the demolition.”
